Bloodstone       - Rolex in the old days has used the wildest materials for their dials. One group of dials which seems to have a lot of variants is the group of Stone dials. These come in an array of different properties, colors, finishings and patterns ranging from hard stones, minerals and even more precious stones. The present watch is fitted with the rare Bloodstone dial which is characterized by a natural dark green pattern with red spots, hence the name of the stone. One fact that makes this dial even rarer is that the dial has a gem setting with a so-called pin ball allignment. Stone dials are literally thin sliced plates which are already very fragile but drilling holes to set a diamond on the dial is even a higher risk while producing the dial. We believe that a big number of dials was damaged during that process and we appreciate the rarity of them today. This Bloodstone Day Date is very pretty and not seen very often.
